Objective: Students will learn what dialysis is and how renal (kidney) failure is caused by high blood pressure.
Procedure:
1.First I'll introduce myself and ask the students what they know about dialysis. Then I'll give a brief description on what dialysis is.
2. Following my description of dialysis, I'll explain how high blood pressure is caused.
3. I'll explain how high blood pressure causes renal (kidney) failure, and how you can prevent yourself from having it.
4. I will end by restating what dialysis is, and how blood pressure casues renal (kidney) failure.
Check for Understanding:
Aside from asking questions throughout my presentation, I'll be having a little competition between the groups at the end of my presentation. They will have to answer questions about my presentation in order to get a point. The team with the most points win.
Resources/Materials:
I'm going to have a diagram on high blood pressure and have arrows pointing towards it saying how its caused.
Too vague. Teach students how to use a sphygmometer. Ask Mrs. Cancino if she has one.
